Meet the Staff

Pastor Michael West

We are delighted to have you visit our church website. It is my privilege to serve as the pastor of the Memorial Baptist Church. Our heart-felt prayer is for people to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and become actively involved in a Bible-believing, Bible preaching church that cares for them.

We make no apology for strong preaching, sound doctrine, and devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word.

David & Cadie Garcia

David was saved at age six after his mother shared the gospel with him — a decision he made kneeling by his wooden toy box that changed the course of his life.

He surrendered to preach as a teenager while attending Grace Baptist Church in Franklin, Massachusetts, where the King James Bible and a devotional life were deeply instilled in him.

Though he had planned to study electrical engineering, God made it clear through a sermon on Luke 9:57–62 — "putting your hand to the plow" — that he was calling him to preach instead. After a season of seeking God's direction, the Lord led him to Crown College in Powell, Tennessee, to prepare for the ministry.

At Crown, personal soul-winning, Public-School Bible Clubs, and bus ministry shaped his understanding of what it means to truly serve the Lord. It was also there, in God's perfect timing, that he met his wife, Cadie.

David and Cadie moved to Ocala in 2015 and joined Memorial Baptist Church, drawn by its bus ministry and heart for missions. They were married at Memorial in May 2017. Since then, David has served in the bus ministry, taught Sunday school, filled the pulpit in the pastor's absence, and served as a deacon. He joined the church staff as Assistant Pastor in July 2025.

He continues to serve on the bus route each week, carrying what he calls "a bus captain's heart — the heart of a shepherd."

"Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it." — 1 Thessalonians 5:24 (KJV)

Mrs. West "Boone"

Mrs. West "Boone" has faithfully served alongside her husband in ministry at Memorial Baptist Church for 45 years, the last 22 of those serving as Office Administrator. In that role, she oversees the daily administrative operations of the church office while providing support to her husband, the staff, and the many ministries of the church.

Her heart for Memorial Baptist Church runs deep, and her years of faithful service reflect a genuine love for this church family and its mission. Her steady, behind-the-scenes work continues to help ensure that the church's mission and daily ministry run smoothly.
